Jonathan C. Ruth
Jon has been the lead attorney in over 1000 injury cases since 1992. He has extensive expertise in trial, arbitration, and mediation. The majority of his cases are resolved through settlement and without the need for a lawsuit. He represents clients in cases involving wrongful death or serious injury.
He graduated in 1986 from the University of Minnesota where he received his B. A. degree. He received his law degree in 1989 from Hamline University in St. Paul. Upon graduating from law school Jon accepted a judicial clerkship position with the Hon. George H. Hoey, Chief Judge of the First Judicial District in Minnesota. Jon assisted Judge Hoey in the creation and implementation of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice, a landmark creation of rules which established one set of practice guidelines for all the judicial districts in Minnesota. In 1992 he joined the law firm Hutchinson & Marquard in Duluth where he began representing clients in cases involving serious injury and insurance disputes. In 1993 the firm opened an office in Fargo where Jon was, and remains, the managing attorney. Marquard & Associates was formed in 1995. Jon is licensed to practice law in North Dakota and Minnesota.
As a result of this extensive litigation experience, Jon receives regular referrals from other attorneys of injury claims requiring his expertise. Jon also speaks and lectures at presentations to other attorneys providing help and guidance in the areas of personal injury, litigation, and insurance claims. Jon and his wife, Susan, are the parents of two children. He and his family enjoy boating activities, bicycling, canoeing, motocross, downhill skiing and snowboarding.
